Increases the critical strike chance of your Fire Blast, Scorch, Arcane Blast and Cone of
Cold spells by a percentage.
Rank 1- 2% increased critical strike chance
Rank 2- 4% increased critical strike chance
Rank 3- 6% increased critical strike chance
This is useful when you need to use instant cast or nearly instant cast spells. Fire blast
and scorch are more situational than fireball but this will still help you a lot. You will usually use scorch to make the target vulnerable to fire at the start of a fight, and extra crit will make it more worthwhile. Fireblast by itself is a powerful ability and this makes it better. Arcane Blast is a powerful arcane spell if you spec deeply down that tree and because this is so low in the fire tree you can get it very easily. Cone of cold is the only ice spell this effects, but CoC is an excellent ensnaring spell so even if you are specced deep

fire you’ll still be using it.
Improved Fireball
Decreases the cast time of your fireball

This is intended to be the instant cast spell for arcane mages so they don’t have to
constantly rely on Fire Blast or Cone of Cold. Its short cooldown lets it work well with Arcane Blast. Either as Blast-Barrage-Blast-Barrage for simple rotations. Or Blast-Blast-Barrage-Blast-Blast-Barrage for tougher fights.
-96-
Reduces the cooldown of your fire blast.
Rank 1- Cool down reduced by 1 seconds
Rank 2- Cool down reduced by 2 second
If you rely on fire for your damage, fireblast will be one of your most powerful weapons.
While it is somewhat tricky to use in a raid because of the distance factor, it will be invaluable in small group PVE, solo and PVP.

effect of spell haste is that it will reduce the global cool down. This is very important for mages because we have so many instant or nearly instant cast spells.
Increases critical strike damage bonus by a percentage
Rank 1- Increases critical strike bonus by 25%
Rank 2- Increases critical strike bonus by 50%
Commentary: When your spell critically strikes it does 150 percent of its normal
damage. With this talent your spell crits will be doing 175% of your normal damage. This can be incredible and it is even more powerful when you combine it with other crit talents like ignite and ice shards or arcane power.

Instantly blasts the target with several arcane missiles.

thing that procs it is odd. If you have gone this deep into the arcane tree you will be focus mostly on dealing arcane damage. You won’t have enough points in the other trees to make

frost or fire spells as worth while as your arcane attacks. Most of the time if you get this proc therefore it will be with Arcane Barrage or blast.
Increases your spell haste.
Rank 1- Increases haste by 2%
Rank 2- Increases haste by 4%
Rank 3- Increases haste by 6%
Spell haste is a great buff for mages, but especially so for arcane mages. The first benefit
is that it obviously will reduce the time it takes for you to cast a spell. This is very helpful when you do a long Arcane Blast rotation due to the small window you have to recast it. And it will also reduce the channel time of your Arcane Missiles or Evocation. The second

This is primarily a PVP spell. It cuts a targets damage output by about half and can also
be an effective escape and kiting tool when you need to run and you can’t use frost attacks. In PVE it is limited because most raid and instance bosses will be immune to it, though many trash mobs are susceptible.

Your Arcane Blast, Arcane Barrage, Fireball, Frost Bolt and Frostfire Bolt a chance to
reduce the channel time of your next Arcane Missiles spell by 2.5 seconds and the mana cost by 100%.
Rank 1- 8% chance to proc on Arcane Barrage, 4% chance to proc on other spells.
Rank 2- 16% chance to proc on AB, 8% chance on other spells.
Rank 3- 24% chance to proc on AB, 12% chance on other spells.
Rank 4- 32% chance to proc on AB, 16% chance on other spells.
Rank 5- 40% chance to proc on AB, 20% chance on other spells.
This talent is a little odd for being so far down the tree. While the proc effect is good, the

Increases your spell damage by a percentage of your intellect
Rank 1- Spell damage increased by 3% of your intellect
Rank 2- Spell damage increased by 6% of you intellect
Rank 3- Spell damage increased by 9% of your intellect
Rank 4- Spell damage increased by 12% of you intellect
Rank 5- Spell damage increased by 15% of your intellect
Since deep arcane builds already have a lot of intellect this is a very good boost. This
also lets you use gear with more intellect for greater mana efficiency and not take a hit in damage. Anyone who has come this far down the tree needs to take this.

Reduces target’s movement speed by 60% , increases the time between ranged attacks by

With this talent, damage absorption will become an interesting new mechanic for you.
For the most part you typically don’t want to be in a position where you will be taking damage, and unless you are specced deep into frost and have Ice Barrier the only real absorption mechanic you’ll have is Mana Shield. This is another talent that is best used in a PVP environment.
-89-
Reduces the cooldown of your Presence of Mind, Arcane Power, Invisibility and
Evocation spells.
Rank 1- Reduces the cool downs of PoM, AP, Invis by 15%, Evocation by 1 min
Rank 2- Reduces the cool downs of Pom, AP, Invis by 30% min, Evocation by 2 min.
This talent is designed to help the “three minute mage”. By reducing the cooldown you’ll
be able to use your most powerful abilities more often, sometime twice in the same fight. It doesn’t make you more powerful, as much as it makes you more efficient.

One rank.
This is often best combined with presence of mind and a powerful nuke like pyroblast. If
you use it with with trinkets you will have some of the highest burst damage in the game, or you can use it in PVE to give your DPS a shot in the arm. Just make sure you have a lot of mana once you use it because you will run out faster than you think.

When you absorb damage your spell power is increased by a percentage of the damage
you absorbed. Capped at 5% of your total health.
Rank 1- Spell power increased by 5% of the damage you absorb.
Rank 2- Spell power increased by 10% of the damage you absorb.
Rank 3- Spell power increased by 15% of the damage you absorb.

damage proc.
Rank 2- 30% extra damage for arcane missiles and 6% arcane blast damage. 2% extra
Rank 3- 45% extra damage for arcane missiles and 9% arcane blast damage. 3% extra
Now that the mana cost increase was removed, this talent is very strong and has no real
downsides. Those that do lots of arcane damage will definitely want to take this . The damage proc is also useful when in a group, but it won’t stack with a hunters Ferocious

Inspiration or paladins Sanctified Retribution. Even if you have one of these in your group you should still take it for the first effect or when you are soloing.
When activated your spells cause twenty percent more damage while costing twenty
percent more mana. Lasts fifteen seconds.

Increases the critical strike chance of any spell cast while under the effect of Clearcasting
or Presence of Mind.
15% increased critical strike chance
30% increased critical strike chance
This is a nice talent to have, though it can be a little unreliable. You’ll clearcast once out
of every ten casts, and this only increases your chance to crit, not guarantee it. You will only notice its impact during very long fights, so it is best suited for PVE builds. Presence of Mind is mostly a PVP talent and based around huge crits. This only makes it stronger.
-86-
Your Arcane Missiles and Arcane Blast damage is increased by a percentage of your
spell damage. In addition when you score a critical hit with Arcane Missiles, Arcane Explosion, Arcane Blast or Arcane Barrage all party and raid members have all damage increased by a percentage for 10 seconds.
Rank 1- 15% extra damage for arcane missiles and 3% arcane blast damage. 1% extra
